What We Do
Unleashed Training is the authority on resolving reactivity! We empower guardians, especially women, to heal their dog's reactivity using kind, ethical, fun, and effective methods supported by science. We work with clients across the country to improve the dog-guardian relationship through education, training, and advocacy.
We believe that the best relationship between a dog and their guardian is a partnership built upon a foundation of mutual love, trust, and respect. We aim to strengthen the guardian-pet relationship by teaching you how to: meet your dog's needs, improve your understanding of your dog's behavior, communicate more effectively with them, and advocate for them.
You don't have to live in Florida to work with us. I have structured Unleashed Training so that I can work with anyone, anywhere and still achieve lasting behavioral change. We offer in-person, virtual, and blended programs with one-to-one, group, and individual learning options.

The best way to learn about us, and vice-versa, is to schedule an assessment, which can be done in-person (for folks local to Volusia County, Florida and surrounding areas) or virtually (for non-local folks).​​

Private, One-to-One Training Lessons
The individual attention you need!
You will receive a training plan, schedule, and goals specifically designed to meet your needs. We meet for training sessions in your home and in your community. Each session is approximately 60-minutes, during which we will focuses on one skill for you and your dog to learn and practice. Each lesson builds upon the last, much like a math textbook. Between sessions you will have that one area to focus your efforts and master before we can move on.

Trainer-in-Residence Lifestyle Program
High intensity, real world training for you and your dog!
Don't just learn how to train your dog, learn how to live the Unleashed Training lifestyle with your dog. In this program Dr. Jessica comes to you, anywhere in the world! I travel to you and we work together during multi-hour, intensive training sessions to address your training goals across multiple days. This is great for folks who need a trainer as you travel, during a move, or to perfect and proof skills in the real world. Learn how to live the lifestyle that you and your dog deserve!
The Modern Dog Academy
Blended Program
Tackle reactivity on your time!
TMDA is tailored specifically to tackle reactivity and help our dogs succeed in the modern world. Enrollment is now open! The Modern Dog Academy is a blended program, meaning that it mixes online learning with 1:1 coaching and community support. When dealing with reactivity, TMDA is the most effective use of your time and money! This program provides fast and lasting results while maximizing your time and learning in a supportive and self-paced environment. Options for one-to-one, group, and individual learning. A Welcome Note from Dr. Jessica...
My name is Dr. Jessica Owens, I am the owner of and lead behaviorist at Unleashed Training. Here I am with Dr. Jones, Teddy, and Valentine, my three rescue dogs. At different times in their lives each of these dogs has exhibited extreme levels of reactivity to different triggers. Being guardian to a dog with reactivity is often accompanied by feelings of shame, guilt, and hopelessness. 20 years ago, when I needed help with my first reactive dog I was overwhelmed with trainers who lacked compassion and emphasized harsh physical corrections and punishment. I knew there had to be a better, more kind, safer way, so I developed one. At Unleashed Training we have created what I needed all those years ago. We believe there are no bad dogs, just dogs that are misunderstood, stressed, and struggling. All dogs deserve a chance to be their best selves, without the fear of punishment as the motivator because, so do each of us. I am an experimental psychologist (Ph.D.) with an expertise in animal behavior, psychology, and communication. Our understanding of dogs and our approach to reactivity are unlike anything you've experienced. Through Unleashed Training I have created a trauma-informed, holistic approach to improve the guardian-dog relationship while resolving behavioral and emotional problems. We teach you how to meet your dog's physical, mental, and emotional needs, communicate with them, and understand your dog so that you can effectively advocate for yourselves. Our goal is not a perfect dog, but a healthy, happy, safe, and well-mannered companion.
Unleashed Training is a concierge training and behavioral care company that specializes in helping guardians of dogs with reactivity, anxiety, and aggression by implementing kind, science-backed methods to heal trauma, teach new behaviors, and help your dog be their best selves. Our clients exist across the country, accessing training through private 1:1 training sessions, online programs perfect for the independent learner, and blended programs that combine the two. As diverse as our clientele, they all share this in common: they are passionate about, and dedicated to helping themselves and their dogs.

We are trauma-informed allies and we love working with the misfits, the underdogs, the fighters, the survivors, those on a spectrum, those healing, those doing the work. I am here for all of that! I am here to help your dog heal. I am here to support you while we work through some tough stuff together. I will put you and your dog's safety first. I understand that reactivity can be scary and frustrating, and depressing. I'll not only help your dog heal, but I'm here to help you learn how to heal the guilt and shame associated with having a reactive dog. I'm here to ward off those people in your neighborhood who make shitty comments, or those who offer ridiculous training advice when you didn't ask.

With any potential client, I like to schedule an assessment to get to know you, your dog, and the dynamics of your household. During the assessment, you will describe your concerns and goals for your pup and I will describe my training methods, a likely treatment plan, and what a typical session entails.
